English Country Dancing
Our English Country Dancing Club has resumed its weekly Tuesday afternoon meetings at Stoulton Village Hall. With eighteen months' worth of news to catch up on it was a really noisy occasion.
Not having danced since March 2020 our caller, Laura selected a programme of dances which eased us gently back into the swing of things.
We would encourage anyone who is looking for an enjoyable, social pastime which does not require a regular commitment to come along and have a go. The first session for newcomers is free (£2.50 weekly thereafter). English Country Dancing is a gentle form of dance set to beautiful music. There are hundreds of different dances, indeed new music and new dances are being written all the time, so it never becomes boring. Some of the dances are progressive, which means that you move on to dance with another couple when the sequence is repeated so, during the course of the afternoon, you get to dance with everyone else there. Most importantly, you do not need to attend with a partner and in no time at all you will be making new friends.
There is no need to attend every session because the sequence of every dance is walked through at least twice and when the music starts the caller continues to cue throughout. This means that you don't have to memorise long sequences of moves or remember dances from one week to the next. You soon become familiar with the terminology used. Please come and join us. We meet 2.00-4.00 p.m. every Tuesday at Stoulton Village Hall, Church Street, Stoulton WR7 4RE Pop in any time. Absolute beginners are most welcome.
