Charger Network Will Spark Demand
Harriett Baldwin MP has welcomed charging points installed in Pershore’s Asda car park to encourage more people to move to hybrid or all-electric cars.
Six new charging points have been installed, part-funded by a £64,000 Government grant aimed at encouraging more people to use low-emission vehicles. Wychavon District Council has now installed twenty four charging points across its district.
Harriett has called for more charging points to be installed across the county making it easier for local people to choose an electric motoring alternative. Hariett commented: “I’ve been keeping a close eye on this issue as we work towards our net zero carbon emission commitment. Electric vehicles will inevitably be part of this solution and it is vital that we install many more charging points in public car parks and public spaces. “Wychavon is to be congratulated for leading the way on this issue and I also welcome its decision to make car parks free of charge until August to encourage more shoppers onto the high street. “With more people also opting for bike travel through this Covid crisis, I’d also like to see more space for bike racks across the county, but I am delighted to celebrate Wychavon’s commitment to alternative green solutions.”
