You have probably already witnessed a sight from yesteryear as traditional horsedrawn carriages ply the highways around Pershore. To some the slowdown they cause is irritating, to others it’s a sight that brings a smile, brightening their day as something interesting and unusual.

For the past three years the Blackthorne Carriage Company, established by Gary and Katherine Seaborne at their farmstead in Wadborough, have been building a business offering a traditional carriage service for important events. Weddings, funerals, birthdays, in fact any event that requires or deserves a lasting positive memory, can be catered for.

Over the past three years Gary and Katherine have acquired a wide range of horses, carriages and riders that can all be attired in a livery of the customer’s choice. Blackthorne Carriages have attended a wide range of events all over the Midlands and have frequently supported local events and charities in the Pershore area.

Gary says,” The training of horses, carriage drivers and riders is an essential element of our business.O K, sometimes we do slow the traffic down a bit, for a short while, but, more often than not, people smile and wave as they pass. I get the impression they appreciate we are trying to keep a tradition alive.”

So expect to see the charming sight of traditional horse-drawn carriages continue. In these days of rush and dash such old world traditions can be a distraction. Make them a welcomed distraction.
